Tri-Valley Transit Suspending Fares
3/13/2020
In light of ongoing developments and concerns about the spread of coronavirus, Tri-valley Transit has decided to suspend the collection of fares until further notice.
Tri-Valley Transit staff have been diligently following guidelines provided by the Federal Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Vermont Department of Health (VDH) by encouraging strong personal hygiene habits to prevent the spread of germs and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces in our buses. With an increasing number of events and meetings being cancelled or conducted electronically we are faced with the challenge that public transportation is, by its very nature, public.
In an effort to reduce the transfer of germs between passengers and drivers, we have decided that to reduce one potential chance of contact we would avoid having our drivers and passengers exchange currency, tickets, or passes. While there has been no indication that these exchanges are or have been a point of virus transmission, we are making this change out of an abundance of caution and dedication to the safety of our passengers and drivers.
Tri-Valley Transit will continue to monitor all appropriate medical advice and will encourage our staff and riders to take all reasonable precautions. Thank you for placing your confidence in Tri-Valley Transit and we look forward to continuing to serve you!
